L. America important for China’s sustainable growth

Latin America is an important partner for China’s sustainable development as the region seeks deeper involvement in global trade, officials said on Thursday.

“China played an important role in Latin American development in recent years. In addition to providing raw materials and natural resources, the region is also an important partner for China’s sustainable economic development,” said Fernando Ocampo, Costa Rica’s vice-minister of foreign trade, during the 6th China-LAC Business Summit in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

“Both sides face similar challenges to strengthen and diversify bilateral trade ties. Therefore, we need to specify fields for trade cooperation and achieve a transformation of trade models,” Ocampo said.

The 7th China-LAC Business Summit will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital. The upcoming summit will be a platform for Chinese companies to boost investment confidence in Latin America, according to Ocampo.
