Leading private equity firm, GTCR, has recently announced that it had sold its portfolio company, Actient Holdings, to Auxilium Pharmaceuticals Inc. This firm is a specialty biopharmaceutical company. Actient Holdings is based in Lake Forest, Illinois, and is a specialty pharmaceutical firm whose main goal is to focus on creating, buying and marketing products that significantly make patient outcomes better.
Actient Holdings was founded in March of the year 2009, together with GTCR. Through a series of five acquisitions, Actient Holdings built a diversified portfolio of commercial products and pipeline programs to establish a specialty pharmaceutical firm that not yet exists. The company must be entirely focused on the treatment of urological indications.
